i sing anything and everything to my kid. i suggest you have an opera day at your house, like they used to have on mr. rogers' neighborhood. instead of talking, sing everything. it is hilarious fun.
as a baby, we sang led zepplin's d'yer maker to him, and he learned how to say "uh oh" from it. language acquisition is different for everyone, but by singing to him all the time, we saw our guy singing before he was talking and he started talking with sing-song intonation before there were distinguishable words.
he also plays the piano like thelonious monk, banging the key board flat handed in atonal syncopation.
