Personally, I think it's your own fault you didn't check their work. Please don't take this the wrong way, but several times when I have gotten service I didn't check and really could not fault the servicer because:
(1) Their policies specifically allowed for a limited amount of time to review their work, and I'd signed off on that in advance;
(2) From their perspective, *I* could be ripping them off.
So you see, it goes both ways.
