Part of the problem is the tax loopholes that help the biggest corporations not only skip out on paying taxes, but actually generate tens to hundreds of millions of dollars for them each year. And that fact that those same loopholes allow the wealthiest americans pay little to no taxes. The richest americans, as was shown here several months ago, pay a smaller percent of their yearly earnings in taxes than the upper middle, middle and lower classes.
Fix those problems and we are on our way to some fiscal solvency.
