I haven't purchased it yet, but I'm dying to. First I need to buy some more RAM so I can speed it up to 768 MB (that's as high as my iMac can go without me messing with the internal slot), then I need to buy
this guy to play nicely with my Korg and my mics, then of course I gotta buy iLife.
I'm really looking forward to using the program. It seems to be extremely intuitive, and even more importantly, the $50 price is cheaper than any other comparative software - unless you want to go to the effort to aquire a lot of freeware and then make sure they all play nicely together, etc.
The loops vaguely interest me but I'm not really coming from the standpoint that a lot of the recent news articles are coming from - the standpoint of "hey, I can't even keep rhythm, and look what I created!". I'm more interested in multi-track recording. I'm interested in using my synth, my voice and my acoustic guitar. The guitar effects seem like they will be awesome when I want to play with my electric.
So all in all, it'll cost me about $350 but in many cases, that's cheaper than some of the comparative programs. I think can't wait to play around with it. Mike, check out
MacJams - they have some great info over there on GarageBand.
I'll report back in about a month or so when I finally have the time to buy and try all this stuff.
