Han was the coolest. Without him the first three movies would have been just like the last two; interesting stories and visually impressive, but not very entertaining. A good smart ass will do that for any movie.

Also, Darth Vadar is one of the best movie villians of all time. He's a much better villian than either of the two recent movies. So credit must also be given to James Earl jones' voice for a favorite Star Wars character.
