Well, is he really big? I've encountered problems before with this. There are a few things that can be done.
1) use lots of lube, as everyone says.
2) relax yourself, it is possible to "open up" more if you can get in the moment more and don't worry so much.
What I typically have had to do in the past is a lot of foreplay, and oral stimulation (be careful with this, because sometimes after reaching orgasm the muscles clamp down and then there is no chance to get it in).
3) take is slow, esp. if you're pretty new at this... trying to just jam it in there is painful. It has taken upwards of 15 minutes to do this for me, so don't think that it is automatically supposed to just slide in and then you're off to the races.
Sex isn't about the end result, it is about the experience. So enjoy it.
