What were you fave songs in your lifetime? I thought it'd be interesting to chronicle your musical tastes as you grew up and see how your interests have taken shape over the decades.
Please post your answers like below: a couple or more for each age period. You can just put artists if titles are not coming to you;
5-10 (70-early 80's)
Kiss-
It must have been funny to see a 6 year old singing "God of Thunder"
ELO-
Don't Bring me Down was my fave song of the Orchestra...and still is
Neil Diamond-
Sweet Caroline was a fave, as was Kentucky Woman
Pat Benatar-
Heartbreaker, a true 80's classic
Blondie-
My 45 (that was a small record like a CD single for some of you) of The Tide is High almost wore out playing it.
10-15 (82-87)
Michael Jackson-
Thriller, Billie Jean, And I breakdanced to Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'
Bon Jovi-
Runaway, and the entire Slippery when Wet album.
Motley Crue-
Every Album.
I got into heavier music as I ht my teens.
Got my first Metallica album, Master of Puppets. Never heard of them before but I was hooked on first listen.
I also got into lots of death metal like Celtic Frost, Possessed, and of course Slayer.
At 15 I went thru a rap period and liked
RUN DMC, Beastie Boys, and Public Enemy. I also got into gangsta rap and loved
NWA and Eazy-E around the time I turned 16.
16-20 (88-92)
Went thru a pop period at 17.
The Cure-
I wore out my "Standing on a Beach" tape, but I had a couple others, including 3 Imaginary Boys.
Depeche Mode-
I played Some Great Reward, Music for the Masses, and Violator many many times.
At 18 I started "rediscovering" my other fave genre's and started buying metal again.
20-31 (92-now)
I got into Rap again in my early and mid 20's. I listened to a lot of
Snoop Doggy Dogg, Tupac and Biggie for a while. My gf got me into country and celtic music at 25 and I learned to appreciate that genre.
I have few "dislikes" in terms of genre with the exception of opera music and reggae, which I can only tolerate for about an hour. My musical maturation is almost complete. I can enjoy
Tori Amos and
Cannibal Corpse in the same playlist. Most of todays' music is crap so I listen to a lot of "old skool" stuff. My eclectic tastes in music range far and wide across the decades, from
Slayer to Eminem, Britney to Bathory, and Mudvayne to musicals.
what's your history?
