I can say with some certainty that it doesn't come through in my business discussions, but rather in a social, or informal setting. That is, I can use it when it's "appropriate."
I wonder how many San Francisco lawyers use "hella" in their colloquial language but not in their legal briefs. Corollary: I wonder how many "Y'all" -speaking Southerners actually use "You all" (which is still a silly thing to say) periodically.
