man finds himself? or farting gorillas
Of Gorillas and Lighter Things
Deep in the jungle of Africa,
My clothes all torn to shreds,
I happened upon a gorilla,
And this is what he said:
“Don’t stumble into the future
For something already said,
And don’t fall into the past
If you still don’t understand
Neither search far and wide
Nor sit thinking, inside,
For the answer to the question:
‘Is there anyone by my side?’
For the answer which you search for
Is really very thin
But believe me when I tell you
It must come from within”
Into his gleaming globes I gazed
While he scratched his silver streak,
And said, while still in quite a daze,
“Gorilla how is that it you speak?”
At this he merely looked at me
As if to probe my mind
Then definitively grunted
And showed me his behind.
