About the backup, I strongly recommend getting a program called Norton Ghost. It'll make an image of your drive whenever you want. If something goes wrong, you can just load up that image that you previously made and everything will go back to normal like it was before. So convenient since you don't have to spend hours reinstalling all your programs again. A great life saver.
