Protein shakes don't keep you awake nor does multivitamins. You are most likely exercising a little too late in the evening, which raises your heartrate thus giving you more energy. This is why a lot of people love to work out in the morning since it gives you a jump start of energy on the day.

Try working out a tad earlier. Getting more exercise will only make your sleep better, not worse
