Here is one in which I was personally involved. Responding to a fire, with my lightbar on, the night was snowy, so I was taking my time. As I approached a T intersection where I would have to turn left, a vehicle approached from my left. I slowed and stopped 10' short of the stop sign, as the other guy had the right of way. He slammed on his brakes, left the roadway, ran over a few bushes and hit the left front of my truck. Then he sued me for being 'negligently stopped'. His reasoning was that he 'expected' me to run the stop sign, and when I complied with the rules of the road, I was therefore contributory to the accident.
My insurance company paid him.
I changed insurance carriers.
