Xnews...xNews...XNews... Personal favorite. Used it on and off for years. New version will be released in a month or so. It handles yEnc, also.
By the way, if you have comcast on the west coast, dont be fooled by their home page. They make it look like you need to pay for service, but you don't. There IS free newsgroup (Usenet) with Comcast.
