It's astounding how much Atkins Co. charges for its low-carb bread and flour. A one-ounce bag of their Crunchers is something like $2 last I checked. The book is quite informative, but is also packed with recipes that require Atkins brand ingredients. Shameful. It doesn't surprise me that the wrap is expensive--Subway is probably paying them an arm and a leg for the ingredients. I lost over 20 lbs. on Atkins and kept it off pretty much by avoiding pasta, regularly-sweetend drinks, potato chips and crackers. I eat sandwiches made with real bread, I eat a little rice with my Asian food, and I haven't fallen off the weight wagon yet. For snacks, I eat sunflower seeds, roasted almonds, and the occasional beef jerky. No reason to pony up the dough for their officially approved, scientifically balanced products.
