Just my uninformed opinion, but I think the reason the FLIR images are different from the HUD in the cockpit is because the video is taken from the camera. I don't think it has been sent through the computers to add all the data (range and such). But then again my opinion is uninformed.
The second video I am going to give the soldiers the benefit of the doubt. I honestly think the way CNN represented that was horrid and completely contrived. Face it, it wouldn't be the first time CNN has blatantly lied about a story.
