I such a figure as Jesus did once exist, he'll be more like a very Orthodox Jew if he lived today. The guy probably just wanted a little less corruption on the temple mount. Or, possibly he viewed himself as a Messiah - but he would still be a far cry from a modern or medieval Christian.
