You could always use a ftp setup. You get full control over access on your files. Also, it is highly configurable so you can make it work around your network.
If you are interested, take a look at either Bulletproof FTP Server or Serv-U. These two programs are really easy to use and have a nice interface. Choose one that suits you better.
