I take in news from as many sources as possible. The positive effect of bias is that it works both ways, and by knowing which way varous sources are slanted, I can see what opposite sides report identically, and throw out the crap that they throw in. For a similar balance, I watch US and foreign news sources so that I can get a balance between those who are kissing America's ass and those who want to kick it.
By trying to filter out any bias other than what we agree with, we close ourselves off to alternate views that we may not agree with, but may be right about some things.
