In the USA it is illegal to make your own hard liquor. You can make up to 100 gallons per year each of wine and beer, or 200 gallons each if you are considered the 'head of your household' but getting caught with untaxed whiskey will not be pleasant. I've heard a detective say that if they find it in your car, that car is no longer yours.. it belongs to the state from that point on. Dunno if that's true, and this was several years ago that I heard that, but there you have it.
Anyway, beer is really easy to make if you're interested in that. As long as you're careful with sanitation, it's a very simple matter to make a decent tasting brew with high alcohol content right in your kitchen. If anyone's interested I'll start a thread on that.. I have some pictures from my latest batch.
