probably not the 3600 is a USB storage class device, so controlling it requires bypassing that. serial might be possible but it'd be too slow, i dont know if the 3600 can be reconfigured for serial use.
IIRC the 3600 has video out ? so a cheap usb capture card or such would do it and provide better imaging speeds and quality
