I have a friend that swears by it, but he usually jumps in with both feet whenever a new technology permits. He's the type of guy that would say that whatever the new craze happens to be, that its wonderful. So, it comes as no surprise to me, that this VoIP comes with his highest regards (and usually an invitation to join the system -- with him as my referrer, of course. Ha!)

I've used net2phone.com before and had decent results. I imagine a dedicated system would be at least as good and probably better. It all boils down to your ISP though, if I am to understand my friend correctly.

He using some kind of a system to allows for a local phone number in his area code too. So, he can receive incoming calls aswell as place outgoing calls. That sure beats paying for local service too.

But, this is all hearsay ... Good luck to ya.
