Actually I just got done browsing all of the information at
www.casebook.org quite a wealth of info on all the different theories and case informaton. Kinda lets you check out the facts and decide for your self.
One thing that I found really interesting was that of the five women that are attributed to being victims of Jack the Ripper four show a distinct pattern but the fifth and last (Mary Kelly) doesn't match the Rippers MO at all. The first four victims were all in their early fourties. All killed outside. All mutilated in some way.
But here's the kicker, Mary Kelly was only 25. She was killed indoors, in her room no less. And was hacked to pieces. To the point that the authorities could not identify her (the only way they could do it was by her clothing, folded neatly in a pile next to her body). What's really interesting is the back story on Mary Kelly. Not only was she in alot of financial debt, and in several relationship problems, she was also seen by several people after she was supposed to be dead. Makes you go hmmmm. Especially since the people that claim to have seen her make the same recollection about her, that she was wearing clothing unfamiliar to them and that she seemed dazed/upset/troubled about something.
I'm thinking that the last victim wasn't Mary Kelly at all. But another woman, she was in the habit of letting other women use her room, subleasing it for a night to make some money. And when Mary came home that night she found the other woman already dead in her bed. And not wanting to get in trouble for letting someone else stay there/ seeing an opportunity to escape her problems, she went in and took the Ripper's work to the next level, ensuring that no one would be able to recognize the body so they would think it was her. Leaving her clothing to aid in identification of the body, she took the other woman's clothing and when out into the night. This would explain how several people would then see her and also exlpain her unsettled emotional state.
I don't think that's too much of a jump in logic. It just doesn't fit the Ripper's MO to go after Kelly.
I have no clue as to who dun it, but I think having a better understanding of the victims would help figure it out.
