A young woman who wanted to leave a cruise ship to return to her boyfriend is charged with threatening to kill everyone aboard the ship to cut the 10-day cruise short. Crew members found two handwritten notes warning that if the ship docked in a U.S. port, the nearly 2,400 passengers and crew would all die. Authorities diverted the ship and searched it for biological, chemical, radiological and explosive weapons, but nothing was found. Kelley Marie Ferguson, 20, confessed, saying that she didn't want to go on the cruise with her family, so she wrote the notes hoping that they would shorten the cruise so she could rejoin her boyfriend. She was charged with two counts of threatening acts of terrorism. Each count carries a maximum prison term of 10 years.
