There should be one port on the router labelled "uplink" - this is what you should plug the cable modem into (cable modem should also have a ethernet port, instead of just USB) - run a cat5 patch cable from the cable modem to the uplink port of the router.

Then run two cat5 cables from other ports on the router (ie: ports 2 and 3) to your two computers.

That should work, after you configure everything properly.
