CT is nicknamed "The Nutmeg State" because residents often made extra money in the 1600s and 1700s by travelling to neighboring colonies like NY and MA and selling fake nutmegs.
Now, we're a bunch of rich white old people and casinos on Indian reservations.
My home town of Fairfield has the highest per capita rate of teenage alcoholism in the country. We still have one of the highest rates of teen drug use. We used to be one of the country's richest towns (there is a correlation between that and the drug/alcohol use.)
As for statistics that I'm proud of, about 5 years ago, we had one of the best public school systems in the country (going downhill lately.)
