I live in West Michigan, I wonder if we are known for anything. Our beaches I suppose. Grand Rapids has plenty of old run down furniture factories.
It was a big deal a few years ago when Tom Hanks was near the area to shoot the end scene to Road To Perdition.
The founders of Amway (Van Andel & Devos) have all kinds of things named after them in Grand Rapids. Amway Grand Plaza, Van Andel Arena, DeVos Children's hospital, Devos Hall, Devos Place Convention Center, Van Andel Museum. Van Andel Institute, I think more. Sometimes people complain about everything being named after these guys, but I feel that it is a small price to pay for all the money they donate.
Oh, I was born at the same Air Force base by the NE coast of Michigan that one of the Columbine shooters (forgot which one) was born at. We were neighbors when I was like 3 and he was a newborn. I don't think we ever played together, though.
