Oh, You might have to buy network cards if say..... the old 98 machine has a dialup modem and you're going to DSL or Cable, each machine has to have the same hookup.... either all dialup or all DSL/Cable.
I have one cable modem that's hooked to a Linksys router that splits four lines to four computers....... all networked together, they all run XP Pro though. I haven't messed with 98 for so long I have no idea how well it will network with XP.
