Some music is elaboratley layered and complex and i found that when i had headphones on, i heard different and new things about some songs. Namely different backings, lost harmonies, subtle bass tones and other random/background noise/sound.
Anyway i thought it was really cool.

This is definately normal, I would SERIOUSLY suggest in investing in a quality pair of headphones. Sennheiser makes very nice ones. I use Sony MDR-700's. They arent *the* best but I DJ at loud clubs/events fairly often so I need the pushing power/durability they come with. I take my audio as seriously as my budget will possibly allow me to. And really I find it worth every penny...
