Norelco Challenges Remington's False Advertising
STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 11, 2003--Norelco Consumer Products Company, a division of Philips Electronics North America Corporation, has filed a complaint against Remington Products, LLC, maker of the Remington "Titanium" Razor, challenging Remington's claims concerning the key feature of its new "Titanium" product.
Norelco's complaint challenges a new advertisement for the Remington "Titanium" Microscreen Ultra product, which misleads consumers into believing that it has some "titanium" metal that contributes to the shaving process, providing a unique and superior shave.
"Remington's new advertisement misleads consumers into believing that the shaving components of the Microscreen Ultra are titanium," stated Robert Baird, president of Norelco. "Remington's misleading assault on consumers, especially during this holiday season, is indefensible and cannot be allowed to continue."
