Buddy of mine is in the beta for Horizons. I've played it a bit here and there at his place. I'll give my anecdotal notes on the stuff presented here by Plan9 (yes, I am aware that Plan9 explained his info as something he read. I'm not arguing with Plan9, merely backing up or refuting his notes as my experience in Horizons showed.)

* No Swimming. Due to graphics engine used. Requires tricks/exceptions to achieve this actions.

Can't say. Never tried to swim as the areas I played in didn't have any deep water. The water looked nice and there were some animations in place to show that the character was wading.

* No Doors on Buildings.. Due to graphics engine used. Requires tricks/exceptions to achieve this actions. I hear the excuse was that the people of Istaria don’t want doors.

I honestly cannot recall a building that had doors.

* No Building that can be Entered.. Due to graphics engine used. Requires tricks/exceptions to achieve this actions.

I went into a number of buildings. Not sure about this comment.

* No Dungeons. Due to graphics engine used. Requires tricks/exceptions to achieve this actions.

Depends on your definition of dungeon. I gather from my friend that there are dungeons of some sort in place.

* Limited Character Animations. Also linked to swimming issue.

They were having some graphic issues when I played, but it was working, there was a broad range of animations.

* Limited or near no Emote Animations

I saw emotes animations when I played.

* No Equipable Items.

Erm, saw equippable items too. Equipped some, in fact. Perhaps I'm not understanding this comment.

* No Mob Pulling Spells. Other words crowd control spell.

Didn't play any sort of caster so I've no idea on lack of CC.

* Short Distance Landscape transitions. Notes in this review.

Erm, not sure what this is referring to.

* Character Slow Movement Speeds to artificially make virtual world seem bigger.

Movement did not seem appreciably slower than EQ or DAoC.

* Out of Proportion and out of normal gravity rules concepts for weapons etc.

No ide. Never saw gravity effects or anything close to something needing a gravity effect. What is this in reference to?

* No Ground to Air or Air to Ground Attacks, even though there is flying for one model.

Yup, adult dragons fly and have aerial combats. There is no interface between air & ground, and I am thankful. It would suck to get jumped by some flying beasty only to have it fly away bewteen its' attack phases. It would be exploitative for the dragon PC's to do likewise.

* No Graphical Representation of Travel. Example mounts and boats

Yup, nothing like that.

* Subjected Race Satyr is Bipedal and is identical to human model except head. This could mean that it will simply add to the other basic avatar lists and not be a specific player class type.

Dont recall a satyr as a playable race. There was a sort of demonic looking race with satyr-like horns, but their torso differed from the human.

* Welgar Subjected Race has been hacked and shown only contain limited animation templates therefore indicating that the Welgar is not free-able yet.

Uh, okay.

* Limited Attractions. Main one is the Maelstrom but once players have experienced this what else is there.

Ayup, not a howle lot of content unlocked in beta. Yup. Course the concept behind the game world is that it will boraden as the players open it up via exploration.

* Calculated Failure. Can Atari confirm they will support the game if AE can’t profit. Many have discussed that the figure for the stability of this product don’t match up.

Cannot say anything good about Atari any more, so I'll have to side with ya a bit on this one.

For me, I was non-plussed and will not be buying Horizons. YMMV.
