i use the A6 since i tend not to do much detailed pixel work, and i lthe resolution still pretty good on the smaller ones, deskspace is a premium for me since i need all that space for coffee, coke etc.
just make sure you find one with a good resolution, and i like the wacom pencil rubber style for when you do draw with it, extra button!
i've always used wacoms, and all the studios i know do as well.
