you're right, the article is really long, so i didn't read too much of it, but this is all i need:

"But if you can offer the world a strip like Calvin and Hobbes, don't you have a responsibility to keep working?"

he doesn't owe anyone anything. and i say it's good he stopped. i mean, just look at peanuts.

as for the disappearing into the woodwork, nothing crazy about that =).
