I think bermuDa's suggestion is still the best, because it's the cutest and openly admits that you made a mistake.
It's too bad you didn't break up with her on her answering machine like Homestar did to Marzipan, or you could impersonate all your friends' messages and replace the tape (like Homestar did.)
