I disagree with you. Some remixes are killer. Not all remixes are good.
Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys and New Order have had great remixes done. If you are into dance/trance, check out the multiple remixes of Sandstorm by Darude. I think there may have been at least 7 or 8 done.
