It seems as though the P22 is an excellent gun. As with any gun, it has to feel good in the hand in order for the shooter to be comfortable with it, but that's the sort of thing you can figure out with a quick visit to your local dealer.
That said, the complexity of its design is somewhat of a turnoff for me. The more parts there are, the more things can go wrong. If you're lazy, impatient, or just plain clumsy, you can quickly make a mess of things while stripping, cleaning, and reassembling the firearm.
