The phone rang and I clamoured to answer it. I grabbed it just as it had rang for the seventh time. It was hard to get up off that warm pavement, but I knew the phone was for me. I stuck my fingers in the coin return once again, somehow thinking this time there might actually be a quarter in there. I said hello in a raspy voice, and the soft floating music of her voice entered my ear and ran down my spine and though my leg and back up my arm. I was transported to another time and place for a moment.
