JFK seems a tad overrated in my opinion, he didn't do much in office besides take drugs, cheat on his wife and deal with said missile crisis. I honestly don't understand why people idolize him.

Maybe because he was killed in the line of duty.
He was the commander-in-chief, our president, and he was murdered for it.
He also brought a form of celebrity to the presidency that it hadn't had before.
As to the cheating on his wife etc. there hasn't been a single president who didn't have some form of skeleton in their closet.
