Man, I'm gonna have to make this a poll. Anyway, I remember a freind of mine in college who swore by this site (
www.aint-it-cool-news.com), but I only visited it a few times.
Today I got redirected there for a review and took a look around. Maybe I'm being to harsh, and I don't remember it being this bad, but I thought it was just a crappy website. The reviews are seemingly written by 10 year-old sugar addicts tripping on pixie sticks, my hairball prone cat could have coughed up a better webpage design, and, admittedly, most of the top secret movie info they get just isn't that interesting to me(even if it's about a movie I looking forward to seeing).
What's worse is that all the test screening reviews smack of fanboy ego-tripping. The review author seemingly believes studioheads are hanging on his every word.
Then there's Harry Knowles. I can't believe that there are famous directors out there who actually made friends with him. Don't they know that they've only made him grow more delusional? But maybe that was the point. Maybe the wanted him to think he holds some sway over Hollywood. Knowles does have some influence over his massive geekdom after all. And maybe the studios want some sort of a leash on him.
But I digress. The point is that I consider myself a movie geek, so I'm deffinitely not trying to be a snob here. But the site doesn't even appeal to the basest of my pop sensibilites. So I don't visit it.
But I was curious and wanted to know if you did, and, if so, why?
