I also reccommend downloading things like the MSBlast patch and a firewall util before you install windows.
After you install windows, make sure your network cable is unplugged before you first boot up.
Apply the blaster patch, and install a firewall (zonealarm is free). You can get rid of the firewall after you have all your udpates and whatnot installed, but it'll save you the headache of installing all the updates and everything, and finally installing a virus checker only to see that you got infected with a virus within minuites of booting up for the first time, unprotected.
just a word of advice from someone who installs windows quite often for various reasons on various machines.
