Oh, computers...

They're moody little buggers.

So I was here doing homework online. My power went out. After a little searching to find the circuit breaker, I flip my hall's power back on and come back. I reboot the computer, go back the Internet Explorer to do some homework, and all my cookies are gone. Nothing saved. Just to be sure, I checked in the system folder and... sure enough, the cookies folder was empty (except for the few generated by just opening the browser)

This wasn't a particularly big deal.

Anyhow, later I went back to play with the circuit breaker. (We're playing assassins in my residence hall, so I wanted to see if I could turn people's power OFF to lure them out of their rooms =P ) I left my computer on when I was doing this (whoops). I DID find out that I can turn OFF the hall power, in addition to just resetting it. So my computer got shut down again.

Now here's the strange part. I turned it back on, started surfing again... and my cookies were BACK.

ALL of my old cookies REAPPEARED.

I have to say, I very nearly fell off my chair when I saw that. I was all "wtf, mates?" Heh. Just thought I'd share.

Any ideas on why that might happen? Just curious, really.
