Nina found that she had outslept all of her companions. Embarassed, she doned her new cloak and darted off into the woods to dine alone. She caught a woodland rabbit easily, built a fire and roasted it in no time, as she had been subsisting in that manner all her life. She and Anca enjoyed the tough meat together and as she ate she tried to refocus on her purpose.
(OOC: I guess if everyone else is revealing their past, maybe I should, too. Not. Heh heh.)
She had to reach the Duke somehow, if that meant the death of her companions, then so be it. She could not let her feelings for Vanelee distract her from her mission. She had struggled for too long to give in to such a weakness now.
Feeling slightly more resolute, Nina made her way back to the camp, where she found Dreggan and Vanelee finishing breakfast and preparing to leave. Not wanting to abandon courtesy all together, she thanked Vanelee curtly for the cloak and his attentiveness the night before.
Dreggan seemed troubled by something. Curious, Nina darted through his mind quickly, scooping up prominent information. What she found shocked her. Such loss, such pain. He had shown such a carefree exterior, she hadn't bothered to enter his mind, convinced she would be bored with what she found there. How wrong she had been to judge him! Vanelee, on the other hand, seemed capable of shielding his thoughts from her and she could only divulge superficial feelings and emotions from him. Perhaps Matt was more than he seemed as well. She would find out soon enough, she sensed him approaching from the woods.
