Dreggan sighed at Matt's woeful lack of strategy. Why was he getting so excited? Why didn't he wait a few moments?
Nonetheless, the battle was now on and the thief had to do his part. Nina and one of the gargoyles had disappeared, so that narrowed his choice down quite nicely. The thug would go down.
After Matt had landed his blows, the brutish gargoyle was getting back up, ready to take him on fairly. However, "fair" was not in Dreggan's vocabulary and he positioned himself behind the beast. He knew its supernatural senses would spot him quickly, so he acted on instinct.
Deciding to take away one of the gargoyle's most potent tools, he threw both his sais with as much force as he could muster at each point where its wings met its back. If successful, the beast would be unable to fly, which would give them a great advantage.
As the gargoyle turned, it felt a sharp pain that sent it screaming back to the ground. On instinct it attempted to take off, but the pain became even more blinding. Realising what had happened, it roared a might battle cry and charged the thief.
