Hmmm.
I carry a CRKT M16 clipped to my pocket and so far not one single dumb question but I have had a few stares when I've pulled it out to clean my nails or to open a box, all of which I easily ignore.
Fortunately the stares even stop the first time someone has a box or something they need opening and I whip out the knife and open it faster than they can say "non-confrontational pacifism".
