i say dont screw around if it doesnt look like it belongs there. call up your local boneyard, a "new" one shouldnt be too much. As far as installing it, might want to get a friend to help. Im haunted by how hard the windshield wiper motor on my dads mini van was to change. Unless the pump is readily accesible dont go it alone.
