I would suggest shaving in the shower with a non-fog mirror.
Make sure it's decently hot.
Make sure you have a good blade. (I use an Sensor Excel)
Tap the blade to make sure you get out the cuttings inbetween every few strokes.
And I wouldn't suggest shaving cream that just irritates things.
At first, go with the grain...then when you're fairly clean go against it.
Feel with your finger tips areas that might still feel rough.
You might not get it all, but in the end you'll have a close shave & you won't feel burnt.
Take it from me...I have to shave both my head & face everyday.
