I'm in a similar boat...
I currently own a Civic--and it's rock-solid, surprisingly roomy, gets great mileage-- but I seriously want to trade it for a Mini.
But my wife HATES them.
Get the MINI!!!
Life is too short to drive something boring. When you're paying so much for something, you should get the one that gives you a kind of emotional envolvement. It'll make writing those checks a little easier.
And I would argue that the Minis are fun AND practical!
Certainly easier to park and take up less room in the garage.
