I used to meet all kinds of girls at volleyball. A group of friends and I played indoor in the winter and sand the summer, and I'd meet some really cool women there. I was in a relationship, so I never pursued it, but a friend ended up getting married to a women he met there.
You just have to pick some kind of mutual interest and follow through, and not be shy about talking with strangers.
