I tried cold turkey over and over, but something would always set me off (smelling cigarette smoke, stressful situations, drinking etc...). I found that a week on the patch was all I needed to get rid of the major cravings and help me with the physical habit. You'll be able to notice the difference in your lungs within a day or two. The feeling of being able to breathe is the best reason to keep away from the smokes for good.
