Pen-Pal!
I've got one, she's a 17 year old Japanese girl, she's my pen-pal. But this has some academic reasoning behind it, what I'm really doing is teaching people English by talking with them and using some slang every now and then. It's apparently a very popular way of improving your English skills over there, and I can see why, there's a site dedicated to trading languages through pen-pals so I signed up one night to try it out.
What I do is talk with her, how are you doing, ever been to the U.S. how's the fight against Godzilla going, and at the end correct any spelling/grammar mistakes I notice in her response, if she doesn't understand slang ("where-abouts" fucked her up) I'll explain what I meant. Anyways, speaking to foreigners is fun.
It's a handy tool considering I'm learning Japanese, there's only so much a book can teach you. I'll probably end up talking like a girl, but I can work that out later when someone makes fun of me.
