Instead of a reinstall, you can put the drive back in the old system, run a sysprep on it then move it to the new system.

Sysprep is a system preperation tool from microsoft and is located on the WinXP CD. Sysprep will rip out all the hardware drivers and the key code. Once you put it in the new machine it will go through a mini setup wizard and detect all the new hardware.

Walaa, you're done. I use sysprep a lot for imaging purposes but same type of scenario is going on here.
